Rawlings - An Associated One Name Study
Introduction
My wife's maiden-name. Research restricted mainly to family memory, although very recent research of birth records have uncovered a fact previously unknown to the family. My wife's GGF and GGM originate from Peterborough.
The story:
My wife's family consider themselves as Londoners. They are proud of this fact and support The Arsenal. It therefore came as a bit of a shock when it came to pass that the roots of the family are in Cambridgeshire. The circumstances of the move from Peterborough to London are, at the time of writing, unclear. What is known is that although John and Sarah were both born in Peterborough, however they were married in Islington.
It is possible that John Robert's work attracted him to Islington, according to the 1901 Census, John was a Railway Wagon Builder. Attempting to unravel this conundrum I have ordered the birth and marriage certificate of John Robert Rawlings.
